Beveridge Talks on the Philippines |
Senator Albert J. Beveridge implored Congress on January 9, 1900 to accept the U.S. responsibility to govern the Filipinos after their cession from Spain. He saw this as a chance for America to become a world power and help the people of the Philippines. Beveridge urged Congress to adopt a resolution to end the violence in the Philippines, which triggered thunderous applause. While that was going on, General Emilio Aguinaldo was in the north of Luzon leading the struggle for independence. |

Basque Emigration Studies Philippine islands (1830-1910) |
This meticulously compiled list, spanning the years 1830 to 1910, unveils the stories of over 1,600 Basques who embarked on a remarkable journey to the Philippines. Their names, etched in ancient Spanish documents, church archives, and forgotten libraries, whisper tales of a vibrant heritage that continues to resonate within the heart of the Philippines today. This collection is a testament to the tireless efforts of Jon Bilbao, a world-renowned Basque historian, whose dedication to preserving the past has illuminated the lives of these intrepid pioneers. His exhaustive research, spanning almost a century across Different provinces in las Filipinas, has brought to light the intricate tapestry of Basque migration, revealing the profound impact these individuals had on the Philippines. Within these pages, you will find the names of ancestors who shaped the landscape of Philippine society, becoming the foundation of some of the country's most prominent and familiar Spanish families. For those seeking to trace their Basque lineage, this list serves as a vital roadmap, a key to unlocking the secrets of their heritage. This book is more than just a list; it is a portal to the past, a window into a forgotten chapter of Philippine history. It is a tribute to the resilience, courage, and enduring spirit of the Basque people, and a testament to the enduring legacy they have left behind in the Philippines. Let this collection be a beacon for those seeking to connect with their roots, to understand the threads that weave together their family history, and to celebrate the rich tapestry of Basque heritage that continues to thrive in the Philippines." |

The Treasure of Limahong Adventure in the Philippines |
The tale of the adventure of Limahong in the archipelago has always been a fascinating story in Philippine History. At a time when pirates in China had a difficult life, Limahong found himself sailing across the ocean along with more or less 2000 sailors, 1500 women, and as many tradesmen as he could bring in 72 junks. Even though he and his sailors almost succeeded in invading Manila, his reroute in Lingayen, Pangasinan, brought him a small victory when his sailors successfully built a canal in the Agno River and vanished entirely in the archipelago. He disappeared, but not his treasures. As the years passed, treasure hunters, historians, and others found his treasures in several jars containing gems, gold bars, and gold and silver coins in the areas of Cavite and Lingayen. Though his legacy is limited, his adventure in the Philippine Islands has continued to be woven into folklore and history, sparking curiosity and exploration. |

Pasig River of Life |
The Pasig River was once a vital artery of commerce, trade, and communication, serving as the gateway to the Philippines' historical, social, and cultural life. However, over the years, its significance has diminished due to neglect and environmental degradation. Once a thriving waterway, it has suffered from pollution and misuse, leading to its gradual decline. This book highlights the urgent and relevant issues surrounding the Pasig River, calling for immediate action to prevent further damage. It serves as a reminder that restoring the river is not just an environmental concern but also a cultural and historical necessity. Revitalizing the Pasig River would bridge a significant gap in the archives of Philippine history, reconnecting the present with the country's rich past. |

This book primarily explores the federations established in the early twentieth century, following two key themes: first, the repeated efforts to build a federation, and second, the stories of the Tobacco Factory Workers’ Union. Focusing on Philippine historical writing, this book highlights the experiences of factory workers—an aspect often overlooked by scholars. While most publications on the topic provide only generalizations about Manila-based federations, this work offers an in-depth study centered on the lives of tobacco factory workers. |

It bridges the gap between literature and history, using both as a means of documentation and reflection. |
